Foxes close out series and advance to semifinals
In Game 2 of the Fonbet Russian Championship Premier League quarterfinals, the defending champions convincingly beat Enisey Krasnoyarsk on the road, 83–62. Ekaterinburg swept the series and will now open the semifinals with two home games at DIVS Arena on April 3 and 5 (tip-off at 7:00 PM).
Quarter scores: 15–19, 18–19, 16–18, 13–27
The hosts came out aggressive, knocking down a three-pointer on their very first possession to set the tone early. Dmitrii Donskov’s team fell behind briefly but quickly found their rhythm in the half-court offense. Bentley hit a three to swing the momentum, and Nogic drilled a buzzer-beating triple to end the first quarter, giving the Foxes a 19–15 lead. The visitors seized control, but the game was still within reach.
In the second quarter, the Ekaterinburg squad heated up from deep. Nizamova and Nogic drained consecutive shots from beyond the arc, while Bentley and Tretyakova kept the perimeter hot, steadily stretching the lead. However, Enisey refused to fold — aggressive defense and fast-break opportunities cut the deficit to a single possession. Late in the half, UMMC calmly handled the press and went into halftime up 38–33. The advantage was solid, but the contest was far from decided.
The third quarter began with a captain’s touch: Shilova converted a long-range shot, pushing the margin to 12. Alexey Chirkov’s squad responded with a short run, narrowing the gap to six, but every attempt ran into the visitors’ disciplined defense and confident control of the boards. UMMC expertly slowed the pace, working their half-court sets to find high-percentage shots. Heading into the final quarter, the Foxes held a 56–49 lead.
At the start of the fourth quarter, the home team sparked a rally, closing the gap to just one point. But that’s when the defending champions shifted into playoff mode: a series of quick decisions on offense, steals, and precise long-range shooting pushed the lead back to 11 points. From there, the advantage ballooned — with three minutes remaining, the margin had grown to 20, effectively sealing the game. The final score, 83–62, marked a convincing end to the series and secured UMMC’s ticket to the semifinals, where they will open with two home games.
