In a regular season matchup of the Fonbet Russian Championship – Superleague, UMMC’s junior team earned a hard-fought 81–75 victory over Spartak St. Petersburg on their home court in Verkhnyaya Pyshma.
Quarter scores: 29–22, 18–20, 22–15, 12–28
The visitors set the tone early, draining a three-pointer on their opening possession and going on a 6–0 run that briefly silenced the home crowd. UMMC-Junior responded quickly, establishing their perimeter offense. Three straight shots from beyond the arc swung the momentum and gave the hosts a slim advantage. The remainder of the first quarter turned into a physical, back-and-forth contest with tight defense and aggressive rebounding. However, Elena Kuzmina’s team closed the quarter strong, leading 29–22.
The second quarter was just as intense. The visitors fought for every possession and stayed within three points for much of the period. It became a perimeter battle, as both teams traded three-pointers and answered at the other end. At a crucial moment late in the quarter, Viktoria Remizova converted a composed three-pointer. Shortly after, Solovyeva capitalized in transition to extend the lead. UMMC’s farm team entered halftime ahead 47–42.
The third quarter opened with a long-range shot from Maria Yatsemirskaya, but the hosts responded immediately, as Remizova punished the opponents from beyond the arc once again. By the fourth minute, the score was tied after another exchange of triples, keeping the game competitive. However, Odintsova hit a precise three, and Golubeva added two more from deep to push the lead into double digits. UMMC held a 69–57 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.
In the final quarter, Roman Kalabin’s squad tried to mount a comeback, applying intense pressure and trimming the deficit. However, they did not have enough energy for a full rally, and the early lead built by the hosts worked in their favor. UMMC-Junior closed out the game with a decisive 81–57 victory.
